To determine whether or not you have environmental allergies Dr. Muller will:
- Ask detailed questions about your allergy signs and symptoms
- Perform a thorough examination using a biomicroscope
Dr. Muller may also recommend one or both of the following tests:
Skin Test
-
- Dr. Muller uses a state-of-the-art allergy testing system to precisely identify what you are allergic to. The test is painless, with results available in 10 minutes. During your test, your skin is pricked (no needles are used) and exposed to very small amounts of the proteins found in potential allergens. If you are allergic to a certain protein, you will develop a raised bump, like a small hive or mosquito bite.
Blood Test
-
- A blood test, often referred to as a radioallergosorbent test (RAST), measures the amount of allergy-causing antibodies in your bloodstream, known as immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies. Dr. Muller will provide you with a prescription to have your blood drawn at an outside lab. The lab then tests your blood and sends both you and Dr. Muller a report detailing what, if anything, you are allergic to. Once your unique allergens are identified, Dr. Muller can create a targeted, custom allergy treatment plan designed precisely for you.
